2000 Chevy Silverado Buildup

Silverado Notes

Here is where I’m putting random notes that I’ve collected while searching out information for my Silverado project. They’re not in any specific order.

Silverado Procharger

Original description from craigslist ad:

This is the procharger P1SC, its intercooled and was Installed on my chevy 4×4 Tahoe with the 5.3 litre motor. it will fit any of the 4.8 5.3 or 6.0 chevy engines. it was custom tuned with 42 lb injectors and dynoed at 323.5 hp at the wheels… the procharger was rebuilt last year and has about 10000 miles on it since… also comes with the injectors and the diablosport tuner. It works great, has no problems whatsoever… call chris

Cam specs from procharger:

The measurement from CL of rear U-joint to end of transfer case was 70.25″. Thats what they wanted to know. I’ll have to get under the truck and measure the U-joint cl to cl. Can’t do it today. Will soon. It was something like 66 3/4 with a quick measure before I threw it in.

EDIT : DS is 67″ CL to CL of U-joint. Anybody thinking of using this measurement be mindful that this is a 1350 u-jointed shaft with a Spicer 1350 rear yoke and will not apply to a factory u-jointed unit. The truck also has approximately a 4 in drop in the rear. Use at your own risk!

Try Oregon Performance transmission on Ebay; a lot of people order their stuff through them and they have the lowest price on the Trans Go HD2 shift kit that I know of. A tr220 cam is really good for a n/a 5.3 and will work well with a 2800-3000 stall converter. If you’re gonna put a Radix on it you might want to look into the Vinci “Trucker” cam; its a 216/224 .551 .551 on a 115 lsa. It has plenty of overlap and a good lope and is great with a blower. DozerDan on here and pt.net had one is his n/a 5.3 and made 311 rwhp on the dyno. With that cam and a Radix on a DD I’d say about a 2800 stall.

If you want the strongest / least obtrusive transfer-case, then the NVG-149 is what you’re after. It requires no inputs what-so-ever and the only wiring going to it is the VSS. It is totally mechanical in nature. The NVG-149 has a max capacity torque rating of 2203 lb.-ft. making it one of the stronger 1/2 ton cases available, AWD or not.

Intercooler and piping – eBay 27x12x3 and a 3″ piping kit

80lb injectors – 40’s are plenty w/Meth but 60’s will go you room to grow to 15lbs w/meth. 80’s are kind of an overkill but if you get a deal, go for it.

BOV- Vortech Race Bypass Valve. Superchargers like bypass valves on the street and will help with your mileage.

Meth injection – Save up for an Alky kit. I wasted tons of time trying to get another couple brands to work like I wanted. My Alky works flawlessly and their cutomer support is #1.

Pulley – 4.0″ for 10lbs on a 6.0l but your cam choice could drop the boost a little

New cam for the blower – what is the specs on your current cam? I’m always surprised how well some tight LSA cams work with Prochargers.

Crank Pin kit. – nice to do but not sure if it will be needed a 4.0″ pulley. If you can borrow an install kit, go for it.

Fuel Pressure, Boost Pressure, and Wideband gauge – a must

Thought I would chime in to help out… It looks like the yank has a dual bolt pattern- LS and LT. So it will fit the LS style curved flexplate, only 3 bolts though. It also appears to have the LS style pilot length. You can check that by measuring the distance from the converter mounting pad to the top of the pilot. If it is .500″-.600″ then you are good to go, no extension needed.
